Brisbane Roar v Sydney FC
Verdict: Coming off a Bye round, Brisbane go into this game on the back of a two week break where as Sydney are still licking their wounds from their 2-1 defeat at North Queensland. Brisbane were very impressive in their scoreless draw at Gold Coast United, and were atleast a two goal better team than their opponents. Fortune and perhaps some early season rustiness can be blamed for not breaching the Gold Coast goal that day but they will fancy their chances against Sydney.
Sydney are going winless so far after an opening day draw against Melbourne Victory (3-3) and a loss at North Queensland last week. In addition to some poor results, the Sky Blues are going through an injury crisis at the moment. Their two top marksmen, Mark Bridge and Alex Brosque, have been ruled out for this game which is a big blow for the visitors. Sydney are extremely short in the striking department with youngster Kofi Danning expected to fill the void in a 4-5-1 formation. Brisbane have no such injury worries and have the perfect opportunity here to get one over the current A-League champions.
Pick: Brisbane Roar 1x2 @3.0 (bet365, 10 units)
Brisbane 1 - 0 Sydney FC
