Brisbane Roar v Central Coast Mariners
Verdict: Central Coast has the unenviable task of trying to break Brisbane's 26 game undefeated streak following the 0-2 home loss last week. The Mariners had their chances at the Blue Tongue stadium as they hit the woodwork on three occasions, but Brisbane's efficiency in front of goal won the day. Central Coast must win by at least 2 goals to have any chance of progressing directly through to the final, other wise they will play the winner between Adelaide United and Gold Coast United, next week.
In team news, Brisbane Roar are likely to start with top scorer Jean Carlos Solorzano after fully recovering from his quad strain. This means that last week's scorer, Costa Barbarouses, will be deployed in his more favourable position on the wing while Brazilian, Henrique, will start on the bench. Central Coast suffered a big blow during the week with top striker, Matt Simon, ruled out after suffering a deep gash to his foot while walking on the beach. His work ethic and goal threat will be missed by the Mariners. I feel that Central Coast wasted their opportunity last week. The difficulty of their task has only multiplied as they look to chase the game against a Brisbane side who are lethal on the counter-attack, especially now with Solorzano back in the starting line-up.
Pick: Brisbane 1x2 @1.78 (sportbet, 10 units)
Brisbane Roar 2 - 2 Central Coast
